September 20, 2018: Alzheimer's Association Dementia Care Program

Forest Hills of DC and Forest Side Memory Care have been chosen by the Alzheimer's Assocation to participate in the pilot of a program that could enhance the care of residents with dementia.

“The six-month program will connect researchers and other memory care experts with leaders and staff the communities via bi-weekly, one-hour videoconference presentations that will examine content areas that were part of the Dementia Care Practice Recommendations released in January by the [Alzheimer's Association].”

September 2017: Forest Side Opens Adult Day Program

Forest Hills of DC, a private not-for-profit organization which has been serving seniors since 1889 is expanding its Forest Side Memory Care Assisted Living service to include an Adult Day Program.

“We are well aware that many spouses and family members choose to have their loved ones’ with dementia remain at home as long as possible. This act of love can cause many family care givers to experience significant stress and burnout.” she added. “A local Day Program provides those family members with much needed support during their long journey.”
