Our team is excited to introduce LaTosha May, who will be supporting our residents as Life Enrichment Director at Forest Hills of DC by Goodwin Living!
LaTosha is a native Washingtonian. Growing up, she was deeply influenced by her grandparents who taught her the importance of compassion. “Caring for people is what I do. It’s my passion,” she shared.
The thing she loves most about her role is when she sees a resident smile and the joy on their face when they are connected to an activity that is purposeful to them.
For her, the connection between meaningful engagement and improving resident health and wellbeing is clear. LaTosha will be focusing on getting to know the needs and preferences of each of our residents, so that our activity calendar reflects their unique preferences.
As we look toward the Spring, LaTosha will be collaborating with residents to plan day trips to explore all that our beautiful city of Washington, DC has to offer including local theatre, music, art and shopping.
Within our community, she will be leading a new initiative to create individualized activity kits especially for residents living with cognitive change so that staff and family members can engage with residents by “joining their journey.” The kits will be tailored to the life histories, professional backgrounds and preferences of each resident.
LaTosha likes to say that she lives her life in color and that is how she will approach her work each day with residents, their loved ones and her team members.
